A Popular Penguins Perk is Returning to Pittsburgh

The Penguins announced today that GetGo will be sponsoring the "Student Rush" ticket program.  It will begin with the home opener this Saturday against the Chicago Blackhawks at 7:00 PM at PPG Paints Arena.  

Additionally, GetGo will be offering buy one get one free Student Rush tickets for the game against the Dallas Stars on Tuesday, October 19th.  Students can purchase tickets through the Penguins app beginning at 10 AM on the day of the game.  Students are also encouraged to enable Student Rush Notifications in the Pens app and to text RUSH to 412-534-6266.  When purchasing tickets you will be required to use your .edu email address associated with your school!

The Penguins' Student Rush program was introduced in the mid-1990's, but was structured way differently.  I remember, as a student, instead of purchasing the tickets online, waiting in line several hours before game time and hoping and praying they'd have tickets left for me by the time I got to the front of the line.  Oftentimes, after several hours of waiting, the Rush tickets would run out just before reaching the front of the line.  It was a risk worth taking for tickets that were otherwise unaffordable to us at the time, and gave us a chance to cheer on the Pens.

If you are a student make sure to be ready on Saturday at 10 AM!
